I got this title from the hit song ‘My Own Step’ by Roscoe Dash & T-pain feat Fabo. Besides being about dance the song is also about having your own style, thus expressing your self through fashion. I strongly believe everyone should have their own style when it comes to clothes but most people seem to get confused by this statement. What does it really mean to have your own style? To me it means taking what you like and putting your own original spin on it. I get really annoyed by people who take a style seriously and dress only in that way. I can tell you right now that there really isn’t a description for my style because I like to try everything and make it my own. For example, the other day I wore my blue/black checkered Madonna jeans with a white top and tied a scarf on my head, someone complimented me by saying my look was sort of bohemian.
Though I must admit, I have spotted a few people who are creative when it comes to planning their outfits. I only have a picture of two people I met and loved their style. The first is a random stranger! I was downtown shopping in one of my favorite stores (Macy’s) and I saw this woman and was so mesmerized by her outfit that I had to get a picture. Luck for me I was carrying my camera and asked if I could take her pic and put on my blog thankfully she said yes. Her outfit was sort of punk rocker-girl meets biker chick:
The second was a teacher I met during my CHSA Harvard summer program. Everyday she had a really cute chic runway glamor outfit on, so on the last day of the program I had to get a pic. I was supper ecstatic when she said yes. We started talking and not only did I learn that she loves fashion as much as I do but she also makes her own clothes! Her outfit was one of a kind:
Here is a pic of me, every post I do I will try to put a different pic of myself:
Why it’s cool to be a J.E.R.K

Okay I know this post has nothing to do with fashion but I wanted to feature my cousin Daniel for his creativity with words. I’m pretty sure that most of the world has heard of the song “Jerk” by The New Boyz and is also awre of the dance that goes with it. However, the word ‘jerk’ isn’t exactly a compliment, until now. My cousin Daniel has come up with his own meaning of ‘jerk’ and three other words:
J.E.R.K- Jounior Educated Rich kid
N.E.R.D- New Educated Rich Dude
F.A.R.T- Fake Artificial Rich Turd
B.A.R.K- Barely A Rich Kid
It is offically cool to be a J.E.R.K and embrace your inner N.E.R.D! However, I don’t mean go around acting like an arrogant you know what. to be a J.E.R.K means to carry yourself with confidence no matter what your doing, who your friends are, what you’re wearing, or what people think of you. In addition, being a N.E.R.D means it’s okay to wear your glassesto school and get an A+ on the calculus finals. In other words don’t let others put you down because you act, look, dress, or speak differenty, just be yourself.
However, there is a word for those who really do act like the dictionary definition of a jerk. They are called F.A.R.Ts which means they think they are better than everyone else and are bullies. Lastly, someone who tries really hard to fit in and copies someone elses swagg is known as a B.A.R.K. That’s it for non-fashion posts, until next time kisses. P.S here is a pic of my J.E.R.K cousin:

Material Girl @ Macy*s

On Friday August 6th I had a life altering moment, it was the most exciting day of my fashionista life. It was the launching of Madonna’s teen clothing line called Material Girl. As you probably guessed I was there (like I would miss that!) and was beyond excited. I could had hardly contain myself I was buzzing around the store like a bee. The clothes are soooo retro 80′s Madonna. There is a lot of lace, jeggings (and leggings), high wasted skirts, flats, and of course accessories. Naturally with being at the launch party I had to award myself with some Material Girl clothing. Macy’s went all out with the launch, including songs by Madonna such as ‘material girl’ (well duh). Oh and did I mention her line was cheap! She wanted it to be affordable so that teens can buy them, in fact she wants most of the clothes to be $40 and under.
tubes for just $5
skirt just $22
scoop neck dress (different prints and colors available) just$15
flower tuxedo blazer (different patterns and colors available) just $36
If you can not make it to a Macy’s store here is the website where you can shop online: www.macys.com (type in ‘material girl’ in the search box).
As if having a launch of Madonna’s clothing line wasn’t enough to make me go gaga! That’s exactly what Macy’s had, a launch of M.A.C’s lipstick line with lady gaga and Cyndi Lauper!!! I also had my share in that too (naturally). M.A.C was also launching their new nail polish line that will be coming out next month. But, as the saying goes first come first served and I was able to get my nails done for free. I also got to sample lady gaga’s lipstick which is gorgeous (and sitting in my M.A.C bag). Today was truly a fashionista filled day, so until next time kisses.
Bridal gowns that won’t put you in debt

Summer is among us and that means weddings, weddings and more weddings. . . . Finding the perfect dress can be like trying to walk in John Galliano’s heels (hard and scary but not impossible). However, I’m aware of our recession and know that most to-be-brides will have a much lower budget. Brides would be surprised by the number of elegant dresses that are less than $500! At ‘David’s Bridal’ you can find a lavish arrange of beautiful wedding dresses with varied prices ranging from $300 - $1,000. Below is a picture of three dresses from ‘David’s Bridal’ I bet you wouldn’t be able to guess which one is just $500. (Answer will be provided at the end with the price of each dress). ( www.davidsbridal.com )
Another not too expensive bridal store is ‘Alfred Angelo’ the dresses are elegant and luxurious without the pricy tag, with prices ranging from $600 – $3,000. Also, with today’s not too traditional society ‘Alfred Angelo’ offers an array of colorful bridal dresses and if you are looking for something short you can be sure to find it there. ‘Alfred Angelo’ can be found almost anywhere world-wide; if you go to the website you can find several bridal shops in your area that sell his beautiful gowns. ( www.alfredangelo.com ).

However, for brides-to-be with a more expensive taste and the money to satisfy their taste buds two words. . . ’Kleinfeld Bridal’. They offer an array of haute couture bridal gowns by top wedding designers and is a very sought after store by future brides. In fact, brides-to-be fly from all over the world just to shop at ‘Kleinfeld Bridal’! Actually one might know them better as ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ the popular reality show on ’ TLC ‘. Besides their breath-taking bridal gowns ‘Kleinfeld Bridal’ is known for their dedicated staff who will stop at nothing to please the bride-to-be and family members. In addition, a future bride can ask to have a designer dress changed to her liking, this includes but not limited to beading, lace, and even color. I highly recommend going to ‘Kleinfeld Bridal’ aka ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ to find the perfect wedding dress (if money allows). ( www.kleinfeldbridal.com )

Okay maybe these babies won’t get you arrested (right away) but they will definitely cause some drama when entering an airport. I’m also pretty sure walking into a bank with these isn’t a good idea. Besides that, the gun-heel trend was started by Chanel and has been only worn so far by models and a few celebs such as Madonna (of course) and Ashlee Simpson.

I have no idea where a regular citizen will go with such a shoe but I do know that a real fashionista will think of something
furthermore, I can’t wait to see what crazy heel the next designer is going to send down the runway.

Hey everyone welcome to my blog! I bet you are all wondering what Mode and Harajuku means. Let me start by saying that Mode means fashion in French, and when I say fashion I mean all types of fashion whether it may be couture, Urban, Bollywood, chic, etc. As for Harajuku (原宿) it is a style in Japan that was named after a train staion. Teens and young people hang out at Harajuku station and shop at the near by boutiques and thrift stores. They only hang there on Sundays and love to pose for tourists. The style of Harajuku consists of an array of styles including gothic lolita, visual kei, cosplay (to dress like an anime character), kawaii (means cute in japanese), and more.
