“I got my own step, I got my own style”

I got this title from the hit song ‘My Own Step’ by Roscoe Dash & T-pain feat Fabo. Besides being about dance the song is also about having your own style, thus expressing your self through fashion. I strongly believe everyone should have their own style when it comes to clothes but most people seem to get confused by this statement. What does it really mean to have your own style? To me it means taking what you like and putting your own original spin on it. I get really annoyed by people who take a style seriously and dress only in that way. I can tell you right now that there really isn’t a description for my style because I like to try everything and make it my own. For example, the other day I wore my blue/black checkered Madonna jeans with a white top and tied a scarf on my head, someone complimented me by saying my look was sort of bohemian.

Though I must admit, I have spotted a few people who are creative when it comes to planning their outfits. I only have a picture of two people I met and loved their style. The first is a random stranger! I was downtown shopping in one of my favorite stores (Macy’s) and I saw this woman and was so mesmerized by her outfit that I had to get a picture. Luck for me I was carrying my camera and asked if I could take her pic and put on my blog thankfully she said yes. Her outfit was sort of punk rocker-girl meets biker chick:   062.jpg punk meets biker picture by Harjuku_Wollee

The second was a teacher I met during my CHSA Harvard summer program. Everyday she had a really cute chic runway glamor outfit on, so on the last day of the program I had to get a pic. I was supper ecstatic when she said yes. We started talking and not only did I learn that she loves fashion as much as I do but she also makes her own clothes! Her outfit was one of a kind: 011.jpg

Here is a pic of me, every post I do I will try to put a different pic of myself: 018.jpg Material Girl picture by Harjuku_Wollee
